Moppets

"Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14.

Welcome to the MOPPETS Program—where your child will be cared for and nurtured by qualified caregivers as you care for and nurture yourself at MOPS.  The children are divided by age into classrooms where they will participate in age appropriate activities.  For those who are old enough, a structured curriculum is offered to help your child learn and grow spiritually through prayer, a bible story and related craft (ranging from a color sheet for the younger children to an age appropriate project for the older kids), a snack, free play, and quiet time.

If Your Child Needs You During MOPS

Please note that it is important that you keep your cell phone with you during the MOPS meeting.  If your child needs your attention, the classroom teachers will dial your cell phone number to alert you.  (FBC’s Number, 303-979-0685, will appear on your cell phone screen).

What to bring to MOPPETS

Due to the number of children in the MOPPETS program and our space limitations, we ask that you bring the least amount of items your child will need during the MOPS meeting.

A large Ziploc bag with the essentials:
  - A bottle or cup
  - Diapers/Pull-ups
  - Extra clothes (if potty training)

All items need to be labeled clearly.  Please do not bring personal toys from home.  Special security items such as blankets and pacifiers are ok.

Due to life-threatening food allergies (i.e. peanuts), please DO NOT bring food.  Snacks will be provided.

Healthy Kids Make for a Great MOPS Morning

If your child awakens on a MOPS morning with any of the following or has had these symptoms within the last 24 hours, we request that you please keep your child at home.
  • Unusual fatigue or irritability
  • A rash of unknown origin
  • Ear or Eye infection
  • A contagious virus or disease, including the common cold
  • Fever - DO NOT bring your child for at least 24 hours after the fever subsides. The absence of fever must be from without taking fever-reducing medication such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
  • Green runny nose
  • Persistent cough
  • Sneezing
  • Vomiting
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhea
If a child is being treated with antibiotics, he/she needs to have received a full 24 hours dosage before being allowed in to childcare.

If any of these signs of illness occur during the MOPS meeting, the teacher will contact the MOPPETS coordinator immediately.  It will then be determined whether the mother should be contacted to remove the child from the classroom.  We will miss each child that is sick or who has become ill, however, we recognize the best place for a sick child is in the hands of his or her own mother at home.  This way, they will be well enough to return to the next meeting.

Frequently Asked Questions About MOPPETS

How will I know if my child needs me?
Each child has a name tag that contains their mother's whereabouts during the MOPS meeting. The workers will contact the MOPPETS coordinator if a mother is needed and the coordinaor will find the mom.

What if my child has been crying too long?
You know your child best, and no one wants any child to be upset.  We will allow 10 to 15 minutes for your child to calm down unless you tell us otherwise.  Please know that although hard to leave a screaming child, they are in loving and capable hands while you are away.  For more information on hoe to leave your child, contact the MOPPETS coordinator for an article by Foster W. Cline, M.D. entitled, Having the Best Experience Possible at MOPS - How to Leave Your Toddler.

What if my child is potty training?
Let your child's teacher know that you are training and how often they need to use the restroom.  Please remember that there are many children in each tomm, and one-on-one potty training by our teachers is difficult.  Bring a change of clothes in case of an accident.  Also consider having your child wear a pull-up diaper even if it is only during our MOPS time.  This will allow for less accidents, but still continue the hard work you are doing with your child's potty training.

What do I do about snacks?
We have many children with food allergies and as a result ask that you do not bring food of any kind.  We provide a snack and some water for the children.  We are very conscious of food allergies, and the snacks provided are taken into consideration.

Qualified Workers
Our teachers love children. That is our ultimate goal. Our teachers are paid through Foothills Bible Church and must pass a background check. If you know of someone who would be interested in helping with the MOPPETS program, either on a regular basis or as a substitute, please have them contact us. We do have some paid positions available. We are always in need of teachers and workers. We never want to turn a mom away

"Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God's words; if help, let it be God's hearty help. That way, God's bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he'll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!" 1 Peter 4:8-11
